A Broader View Volunteer programs are open to people of all ages and backgrounds. Volunteers are given customized placements based on their skills and interests, and work side-by-side with local people on community-led initiatives. Volunteers work with infants and disadvantaged children, teenagers, adults, the elderly, and people with special needs like HIV/AIDS or mental or physical disabilities, with environmental and conservation and animal welfare causes.
"Many people are searching for a way to really make a difference," says Sarah Comitale, Executive Director of ABV. "We give people the change to discover that volunteering overseas is no longer just a dream, but something they can actually do."
An A Broader View program includes orientation with in-country expert staff. Participants are provided room and board with a local host family and given project support and briefing which provides insight into the culture and community where they volunteer. Volunteers pay their own airfare and a U.S. tax-deductible program fee to A Broader View Volunteers to cover all in-country expenses.
